Vin Rouge

The atmosphere at Vin Rouge is romantic and authentic. They’ve reproduced a French neighborhood bistro/brasserie right down to the long, heavy wood bar and fresh baguettes.  It’s intimate inside and they have patio seating outside too — think white fairy lights and flickering candlelight.  And it gets better.  The food is wonderful and authentic.  If you ate there when it first opened be sure to try it again — the food quality is 100 percent better.  A bonus – they have a well-edited French wine list and knowledgeable staff to help you navigate it.

Pair this with a stop at the Regulator Bookshop.  It’s one of the few independent, locally owned bookshops we have left.  It’s open until 9pm M-Sat.  Better yet, check out their site and catch one of their events before you eat.  Did you know that 40 percent of the money you spend there stays in our community?

Park your car once and walk to both on 9th Street in Durham.

  1. Viva Vin Rouge! I vote this restaurant: Best precurser to foreplay. Cozy, sexy and oh-so French, the ambience (and food) promise to inspire thoughts of lamour.
